So what’s new?
Well I haven’t posted in a while, so I figured I’d give a quick update on what’s occurring.
Why I haven’t posted.
- Well I’ve been having some difficulty finding my writing stride. The ideas are still there, but getting them out in an eloquent way that I’m happy with is the difficult part. I’ve got the beginnings of many things on the go, just gotta get them refined (it’s my perfectionism acting up again).
- Also I’ve started a new job. Which I’m enjoying immensely. While it does have the positive effect of providing an income, it does cut into my writing time. It’s not just the hours worked but the social aspect as well, meeting new and awesome people, and the nights on the town that seem to inevitably ensue. Great experiences, but writing time can suffer.
- The other thing is that although I haven’t been posting that doesn’t mean I’m not working on my blog. In fact I’ve been putting a large portion of my free time into this blog (directly and indirectly).
I’ve been teaching myself how to code webpages through HTML and CSS. Sort of a self-guided study.
You may be asking, “Why would you do that when WordPress has all these beautiful pre-made themes to choose from?”
Well yes they are very nice, and they due allow a certain amount of customization, but I just have this drive to make my blog truly unique, making it a more stylistic representation of myself and my writing.
I also realized that the current theme that I’m using is not mobile-friendly, when people view my page on a mobile device (smartphone for instance) they don’t see the page as I see it in my browser window.
Is this a problem? Well not entirely but I do use different style techniques in my posts for emphasis or to convey a point. For instance sometimes I use changing colours of fonts, or spacing. I also am quite fond of having a dark background with lighter writing. Really it’s just a style thing, but that’s part of the whole endeavour, the style is part of the substance.
Although I still surf the interwebs from a computer, more and more people are doing it from a smartphone (in fact the scales may be tipping in that direction), so I have to take that into account (my personal feelings on the subject aside).
So I’ve picked a mobile-friendly theme and am working my way through it’s customization. Now this may all sound boring to you (coding is not very exciting stuff), but it is kind of fun, typing in a new line of code and watching as it changes the page (or sometimes just screws it up).
Eventually (hopefully soon), I will have my new customized theme up an running and in time I hope that I will be able to make a truly unique site of my own creation, but all things in due time 🙂
So what else is new?
Well summer is here. An exciting time in my city of the long winters. The place is abuzz, the patios are open, and the shenanigans have begun. A what a great time to be here!
I’ve been playing my music (as usual). I’m working on my songwriting and my singing (both of which need improvement).
The current project I’m working on, “The Boxcar Boys,” is coming along well, new ideas and songs are being manifest regularly. Hopefully in the very near future we will have a set list ready to share with the adoring public 😉
The pieces of my life are slowly being put back together. I’m re-finding my place in the order of things. Reorganizing my life, reestablishing my priorities. I’m recovering from my mistakes (is that the right word?) and moving onto new horizons. All good things.
I’m trying to reconnect with Source. I’ve been in a bit of a spiritual drought (could be related to my lack of writing). I’m trying to get back to that place where I felt the Divine in a tangible way. It’s not that the connection is gone, in fact I still feel and experience it in my daily life. But I’ve been more closed recently, which prevents me from receiving the totality of the divine experience. As I’ve had this shake up in my life, I’ve allowed more fear and doubt into my mind. So now the goal is to structure my life in such a way that I can receive the fullness of the divine experience… Life. Love.
Live life to the fullest.
That’s what it’s all about.
Thanks for reading and joining me in this journey.
Until next time,
